We are kind of a bunch of nerdy patriots in my house.
With that in mind, we recently started buying eggs and meat from local farmers. And when making purchases for our two kids, we always have an eye on buying Canadian-made.
For the past two weeks we have bent the rules and turned on the Olympics during dinner. I really enjoy the conversations we have with our daughter (big G) as we are watching – especially with the women dominating the games for Canada. Here’s why:
I have a horrible memory in general, so I worry the details will fade away too quickly. I want to preserve every moment. I think that’s why I take so many pictures.
But whenever I try to capture these moments they end. Breaking away to grab my camera inevitably means the moment loses some magic.
She dared me.
My three-year-old daughter dared me.
Sure, she doesn’t know what a dare is, but when I suggested she and I could make her a wooden garden box, she scrunched up her face and said “maybe daddy should do it.”
That’s all she had to say for me to get my back up. Did she think we couldn’t do it because we’re girls?
